Fredericksburg Art Guild Celebrating 40 Years!

Fredericksburg Art Guild's First Friday ~ February 4th
Activities feature the opening reception of the "For the Love of Art" exhibit, and the February Artist of the Month Exhibition
Opening Exhibit "For the Love of Art" is a new, multi-medium exhibit by Guild artists. The show will feature work by the Guild's 32 members and includes oils, acrylics, pastel, jewelry and more. Opening reception is 2 - 8 pm with wine from Torre Di Pietra Vineyards and hors d'oervres.


The February Artist of the Month features the bold, bright paintings of Bert Garcia.

Bert is a third generation Texan who managed her husband's medical practice, raised their children, taught school part-time and has a Masters in Floral Design. When Bert and her husband moved to Fredericksburg about 7 years ago, she attended a workshop by Joyce Combs, nationally renowned artist, and the rest is history. Her paintings reflect her love of life and are bold and bright.

The Fredericksburg Art Guild represents 32 Hill Country Artists and exhibits fine art,jewelery, sculpture, photography, stained glass and more. The Guild's hours are 10 am to 4 pm ~ open until 8 pm on the First Friday of every month. The Guild is closed on Tuesdays. The Fredericksburg Art Guild is located behind the Nimitz Museum at 308 E. Austin Street. Ample, free parking is available behind the Convention and Visitor's Center.

The Fredericksburg Art Guild is a non-profit organization that receives financial support from the City of Fredericksburg Hotel/Motel Tax Fund and annual grant funding from Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance/Oktoberfest.


The
Fredericksburg Art Guild invites all Gillespie County artists,18 years and older, to enter the 8th Annual "Faces and Places of Gillespie County" art exhibit.

First, second and third place
cash awards will be given in three catogories: Oil and Acrylic Painting; Pastel and Watercolor Painting and an Open category for Photography, Collage, Colored Pencil, Mixed Media and 3D work.

A Best of Show will also be awarded.
The deadline for entry is
Monday, March 28 between 10 am and 4 pm at the Fredericksburg Art Guild,
308 E. Austin Street. The opening reception is April 1st. and the show will be up until May 22, 2011.

"Faces and Places in Gillespie County" will be juried by Pat Sreenan, a Fredericksburg artist with extensive background in many mediums. Pat opened the Photographic Center in Dalla where he taught creative photography while developing his talent for pen and ink drawings. Although he is well known for his pen and ink drawings and architectural renderings he has expanded his talent and skills in other mediums such as pastel and watercolor. Pat also studied oil painting for many years under Perry Nichols, a renowned Dallas artist.
